Greg Phelan

Greg Phelan, a sixth-generation resident of the Central Coast has been with the Miller family since January 2001.  Previously working at Bien Nacido and Solomon Hills for ten years, Greg had a brief experience in the strawberry industry, while continuing to consult for the Miller family.  Starting in January 2012, Greg assumed the role of vineyard manager at French Camp Vineyards.

Greg grew up in Arroyo Grande helping his father in the family business of cattle ranchingand farming.  His interest in agriculture led him to undertake studies at Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo.  Greg earned his B.S. degree (CropScience/Viticulture) in 2000, his Pest Control Advisor License in 2001 and hisM.S. (Agribusiness/Wine Industry) in 2003.

Greg began his vineyard career in 1996 at Cambria Vineyard as an intern.  Following three years of internship, he took over as Manager of Rim Rock Vineyard in Arroyo Grande.  In 2001, Greg was hired as the Assistant Vineyard Manager of Bien Nacido, and later assumed the Vineyard Manager role of Solomon Hills Vineyard.

Greg still enjoys cattle ranching and farming a small avocado orchard in his spare time.  He and his wife, Colby, live in San Luis Obispo with their daughter, Neely, and son, Jeffrey, where Colby is employed as a substitute teacher in the San Luis Obispo School district.
